the Flashy Chicken Farms

We are the Andersons, and we love to grow stuff and make cool shit with our kids.

We needed a place to put all of our gardening, culinary creating, flower growing, woodworking, welding, drinks in the woods with friends, and campfire-building energy.

This is what led us to the Flashy Chicken Farms.

Our story may not be unique, but it feels familiar to the stories of our closest friends and family. We grew up in the 80’s, drinking water from the hose, camping out, and playing in the creek from sunrise to sunset.

We would spend long nights with friends around the fire pit in the backyard, and as we grew up, and started families of our own, we started camping in the backyard, digging for worms, and playing in the mud. Watching the "magic beans" we would throw in the garden grow and then turn into our food was a pretty magical and inspiring experience.

As our kids developed a love for being outside. We would look back at pictures of them after they had gone to bed and realize that we were probably raising feral children, as they were hardly ever in clothes, covered in mud, and eating straight from the plants in our yard.

We started looking for ways to expand to and grow, sustainably while teaching and learning with our kids about how we can help and heal the earth and those around us with our love of growing and making food.

We grow a lot of stuff and we like to sell it. You won’t find your typical farmers market selections.

We are just getting started, and learning so much about our farm and feeding friends.

Last year was an amazing year of learning. Having the farm for a full year now, we know where the sun hits the most and where the best spots are for all the herbs and veggies. We learned some significant things last year, too. We grow a lot of stuff, but we had so many questions about what to do with the produce, and what you can make with just herbs.

This year we are focusing on a few recipes with things that worked well for us, and next year, we will be back to deliveries. We won’t just be delivering ingredients, we will be delivering seasonal bundles with lots of goodies.

Freshen Up

Freshen Up

We have been distilling our herbs from last year and processing the aloe vera plants. What better way to use all of that stuff and make something good for your skin like hand sanitizer (seriously, you can’t find good-smelling hand sanitizer anymore.
it was driving me crazy)
